At least 6 dead in Japan as Typhoon Shanshan grinds on

Tokyo, At least six people were dead as Typhoon Shanshan crept eastward through Japan on Saturday, drenching large areas with torrential rain, triggering landslide and flood warnings hundreds of kilometres from the storm’s centre.

One person was missing and more than 100 have been injured, said Japan’s Fire and Disaster Management Agency. More than 35,000 homes were without power in southern Kyushu’s Kagoshima prefecture, according to Kyushu Electric.

Shanshan, centred in the Pacific Ocean some 480 km (300 miles) southwest of Tokyo at 12:50 p.m. (0350 GMT), triggered heavy rain as far away as the northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido, despite being downgraded to a tropical storm on Friday. Winds were gusting up to 25 metres per second (90 kph, 55 mph).

Authorities have issued flood and landslide warnings around the country since the storm’s arrival, halting air and rail services and shutting factories.

The storm is forecast to weaken to a tropical depression over the weekend but is expected to continue to
bring heavy rain, NHK reported.

331 days of war on Palestine

Gaza – Ma’an – Israeli aircraft continued their bombing of various areas in the Gaza Strip on the 331st day of the war, leaving a large number of martyrs and wounded.

The Israeli occupation committed five massacres against families in the Gaza Strip during the past 48 hours, resulting in 89 martyrs and 205 wounded arriving at hospitals.

The death toll from the Israeli aggression has risen to 40,691 martyrs and 94,060 injuries since October 7.

A polio vaccination campaign was launched in the central Gaza Strip.

Israel excluded the Bureij and Maghazi camps, part of Nuseirat and part of Deir al-Balah from the truce.

The campaign will continue for four days in the central Gaza Strip, then four in Khan Yunis and will end in Gaza and the north.

South Gaza Strip

The occupation army continued its intensive artillery shelling of northern Rafah and southern Khan Yunis.

During the past twenty-four hours, 32 citizens from Rafah and Khan Yunis were martyred.

Central Gaza Strip

The occupation artillery renewed it
s shelling of the northern Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip after a bloody day that led to the martyrdom of 21 residents of the camp.

Gaza and the north

Two martyrs and injuries were reported in the occupation’s shelling of the Hanzel family home in the Toba area in Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip. The

occupation aircraft launched a raid on the Beit Lahia project in the northern Gaza Strip

and in Gaza City, three were reported in the Israeli shelling of the eastern part of the Baptist Hospital in the center of Gaza City.

Six citizens were also killed in the bombing of the home of the “Abdul Aal” family in the Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City.

The Civil Defense in Gaza announced that the Israeli bombing in the Tuffah area targeted two empty homes in the vicinity of the Bahlol station, without any injuries.

Industry Ministry, BCCI introduce new enhancements to Sijili

Manama, The Ministry of Industry and Commerce, in partnership with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), held an introductory meeting on the Virtual Commercial Registration (Sijili)’s latest enhancements.

The meeting aimed at updating the business community on the latest enhancements to the system. These improvements are intended to further support the private sector and strengthen its role as a key driver of the national economy.

Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, highlighted that Sijili is designed to empower entrepreneurs and small businesses, contributing to economic growth. He emphasised the ministry’s commitment to continuously refining the regulatory framework to create a more adaptable and business-friendly environment.

The minister noted that Sijili aligns with the government’s broader efforts to enhance Bahrain’s business climate. He expressed his aspiration that the recent updates will make it easier for entrepreneurs and investors to launch and expand t
heir ventures, thereby reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a leading destination for investment and business in the region.

Fakhro also underscored BCCI’s role in contributing to the national economic development, adding that cooperation between the ministry and BCCI is the reason behind the success of such initiatives.

The occupation prevents Red Crescent crews from entering Jenin camp

Jenin – Ma’an Special – The Director of Ambulance and Emergency at the Palestinian Red Crescent in Jenin, Mahmoud al-Saadi, told Ma’an’s correspondent that the occupation is preventing ambulances from entering to deliver medical and humanitarian aid to citizens inside the camp.

Al-Saadi confirmed that ambulances are being shot at by the occupation soldiers, and that ambulance officers were prevented from entering Jenin camp, despite having received prior coordination to enter the camp.

Al-Saadi explained that many appeals reached the Red Crescent Society from citizens besieged inside the camp who need medicine and water, especially since the occupation has been preventing them from leaving their homes for five days.

Al-Saadi called on international institutions to intervene to force the occupation to allow relief crews to enter to deliver aid to those in need inside the camp.

CSB participates in GCC civil service undersecretaries meeting

Doha, Ali Yousif Al Hammadi, Director General of Recruitment and Information at the Civil Service Bureau (CSB), participated in the 27th meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of Civil Service and Administrative Development bodies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held in Qatar.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the GCC strategy in the field of civil service and human resources development (2021-2025) and discussed and approved several initiatives aimed at developing human resources within the GCC states, facilitating the exchange of expertise, and standardising electronic systems. These initiatives will be submitted to the committee of civil service ministers in the GCC countries at their 20th meeting, scheduled to take place on Tuesday in Doha.

“Jenin Battalion” confirms continuing targeting of occupation forces

Jenin – Ma’an – The Jenin Battalion – Saraya al-Quds confirmed that its fighters continue to target the Israeli occupation forces in the fighting axes in Jenin camp.

She said, “Our heroes on the merging axis are showering the occupation forces with hail of bullets and explosive devices, achieving direct hits,” according to her expression.

She added that the fighters continue to engage in clashes with the occupation on the axis of Al-Ansar Mosque, and are showering it with hail of bullets.

Bahrain introduces new tax for Multinational Enterprises, aligns with OECD standards

Manama, The Kingdom of Bahrain announced the introduction of a Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax (DMTT) for Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) as outlined in Decree Law (11) of 2024.

The new framework for Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) is fully aligned with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) guidelines, and will be effective January 1, 2025, underscoring Bahrain’s commitment to promoting global economic fairness and transparency.

This strategic move builds on Bahrain’s proactive engagement with the OECD, dating back to 2018 when it joined the Inclusive Framework and endorsed the groundbreaking two-pillar reform. To date, over 140 jurisdictions have signed up for this international tax reform. As part of this two-pillar reform, the OECD established a Global Minimum Corporate Tax to ensure large Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) pay a minimum tax of 15% on profits in each country where they operate.

With the introduction of the DMTT, the Kingdom of Bahrain demonstrates its internatio
nal commitment to global cooperation and its dedication to fostering a fair and level playing field in international taxation. Implementing this initiative aims to ensure that MNEs pay the minimum 15% tax on the profits generated in the Kingdom.

This Decree Law will apply exclusively to large MNEs operating in the Kingdom, with global revenues surpassing the Pillar Two threshold of EUR 750 million. Eligible businesses are urged to register with the National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) before the deadline specified in the relevant legislation

Two martyrs shot by the occupation forces in Kafr Dan, west of Jenin

Jenin – Ma’an – Two young men were killed on Sunday evening by Israeli occupation forces in the town of Kafr Dan, west of Jenin.

The Red Crescent Society said that its crews received two martyrs shot by the occupation forces, and they were transferred to the hospital.

The occupation forces shot two young men after opening fire on their vehicle at the entrance to the town, and prevented the Red Crescent crew from providing them with first aid, which led to their martyrdom.

HM King issues Decree (75) of 2024

Manama, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Decree (75) of 2024, restructuring the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR), based on a proposal by the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs, and Endowments, and following the approval of the Cabinet.

Article I

The Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution shall be restructured and chaired by Ali Abdullah Al Aradi and include the following members:

1. Sir Christopher Greenwood

2. Tom Sikora

3. Meg Kinnear

4. Reza Mohtashami

5. Darius Khambata

6. Amina Jaffar Al Anesi

7. Aisha Abdullah Mutaiwee

8. Marike Paulsson

The membership term of the board shall last for three years.

Article II

The Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs, and Endowments shall implement this decree, which shall be effective from the date of its issuance and be published in the Official Gazette.

Israel continues to obstruct access to health facilities in Jenin

JENIN – Ma’an – The scale and intensity of the four-day Israeli incursion into Jenin is “absolutely alarming,” Doctors Without Borders said, as Israeli forces continue to obstruct access to health facilities, block the passage of vehicles and even target ambulances, delaying people’s access to care.

The international organization added in a brief statement published via the “X” platform, today, Sunday, that in Jenin Governmental Hospital, supported by Doctors Without Borders, which has been besieged by Israeli forces since the beginning of the incursion, electricity and water supplies are at risk, and the medical team was forced to stop dialysis operations, which is an essential procedure in treating kidney failure.

She continued, ‘In Tulkarm, after the withdrawal of Israeli forces, our teams saw the destruction in the camps, and heard disturbing accounts from a volunteer trained by MSF who was beaten and interrogated.’

She called on Israel to respect its obligations as an occupying power in the West Bank,
including the need to respect access to medical care, and hospitals, ambulances and the medical humanitarian mission must be respected and protected.

The occupation’s aggression on Jenin enters its fifth day

Jenin – Ma’an – For the fifth consecutive day, the occupation army continues its aggression on the city and camp of Jenin.

The occupation has focused its aggression in the last hours on Jenin camp and the Damj neighborhood, and the occupation soldiers are demolishing parts of citizens’ homes under the pretext of searching for wanted persons.

This aggression on Jenin and its camp since last Wednesday resulted in the martyrdom of 14 citizens and the injury and arrest of dozens, in addition to the widespread destruction of citizens’ property, public and private facilities, and infrastructure, including water, electricity, and telephone networks.

While the occupation forces are still imposing a tight siege on the city and its camp and sending more military reinforcements towards the city.

The occupation soldiers are besieging the entrances to the hospitals in the city, not allowing entry or exit from these hospitals except after subjecting citizens to searches and checking their personal cards.

The occupatio
n forces forced a number of families inside the camp to evacuate their homes after turning them into military barracks.
