Kuwait, EU discuss historic relations

Kuwait Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya met on Tuesday with Vice-President of the European Commission and High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 162nd regular session of the Arab League at the ministerial level in Cairo.

During the meeting, both sides touched on their historic relations, the strategic partnership in different fields in addition to the latest regional and international developments.

Kuwait Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya met Tuesday with the Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini, on the sidelines of the 162nd regular session of the Arab League at the ministerial level in Cairo.

The two sides touched on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.

UK, US will deepen their commitment to economic, security relations

The UK and US will deepen their commitment to the economic and security relationship in the new Strategic Dialogue which kicked off on Tuesday in London.

In a statement, the British foreign office said, the Strategic Dialogue covered key elements of the UK-US relationship, including defense and security, Europe, Ukraine, the Middle East, the Indo-Pacific, secure, resilient and sustainable growth and other global priorities.

The statement added it reflected the immense value the UK places on its economic relationship with the US.

With the UK and US sharing a USD 1 trillion investment relationship, a re-energized and enhanced economic partnership presents huge opportunities for people and businesses on both sides of the Atlantic, supporting the new government’s priority to grow the economy.

The UK and US are equally united in promoting prosperity and stability in the Indo-Pacific, and the dialogue covered their commitment to ensuring regional security through the AUKUS partnership.

ry David Lammy said the UK has no greater friend than America.

He added, the special relationship has been cherished on both sides of the Atlantic for more than 80 years, but together we are committed to supercharging our alliance to bring security and growth to Brits and Americans alike.

“In a more volatile and insecure world, it is even more important that we are highly aligned nations.

Together we are re-energizing our economic partnership, working together to tackle insecurity abroad and facing the future in unity and confidence,” Lammy added.

Arab ministerial cmte converses latest Jerusalem violations

Arab League Ministerial Council’s committee on Jerusalem discussed, Tuesday, the systematic aim of Israeli occupation to demolish Islamic and Christian identity of occupied Jerusalem as well as the historical and legal rights.

This came during the Arab Ministerial Committee in charge of taking action to confront illegal Israeli policies and measures in occupied Jerusalem chaired by Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi, coincides with the 162nd ordinary session of the league.

The committee’s members are Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and the Secretary General of the Arab League. Palestinian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Varsen Shaheen, a statement by committee affirmed.

Despite the resolutions that criticized Israeli occupation’s ongoing violation against Al-Aqsa Mosque, the occupation continued its escalations against Jerusalem, the statement added. It stated that in Jerusalem, during the first half 2024, 23 martyrs
rose in the governorate, with more than 700 arrest as the number of demolition operations reached 127, and about 25,000 settlers stormed into the Mosque. Since October 7th Israeli occupation has accelerated demolitions in Palestinians areas by 50 percent, the statement warned too that with ongoing of these operations it could reach up to 125 housing units annually.

The Israeli occupation, since October 7 has rushed the settler’s constructions in East Jerusalem, with more than 20 settlements projects.

The committee called for the Arab and Islamic countries the necessary funding to support Jerusalem in developments and investments as well as voiced the international community for a firm stance against the Israeli occupation’s plans to normalize the genocide.

Outgoing Pres. of 78th UNGA calls for fulfilling SDGs

The outgoing General Assembly President Dennis Francis of Trinidad and Tobago said his presidency of the 78th session was eventful, noting that it brought urgency fulfilling the Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs). At his final press conference, Monday, Francis stated the results of the three High-Level Meetings on three-health related issues, affirming that they placed health and people-centered care “at the very center of the international agenda”.

The outgoing president highlighted to the global consensus on the need to “reform the global financial architecture during the High-Level Dialogue on Financing for Development, essential to matching the SDGs for 2030 with all necessary sources.

Francis mentioned the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Assembly’s first-ever Sustainability week, where it discuss global issues on tourism, energy, and debt. With the recent escalation in the Middle East, as the Assembly resumed its 10th Emergency Special Session and approving th
ree resolutions: protection of civilians, calling for a ceasefire, and recognizing Palestine’s qualification for UN membership, “It is time for the violence in Gaza to stop,” he stressed. Retired military personnel continue protest at Riad El-Solh Square amid calls for government reforms


Retired military personnel on Tuesday have remained stationed at Riad El-Solh Square and surrounding areas leading to the Grand Serail, amid ongoing road blockades and tire burnings.

The protesters have vowed to continue their demonstrations until the Cabinet amends its agenda, disseminates its plan, and commits to addressing their demands.

Former MP Brigadier General Chamel Roukoz joined the protesters at the main entrance of the Serail, near the Zuqaq al-Blat area. He urged the government to “reconsider the budget, which imposes taxes and fees on the impoverished’, and called for fairness for the public sector and retired military personnel across all sectors.

Roukoz advocated for new legislation to secure additional funds from support, banking, and financial engineering mechanisms amounting to billions, and demanded a transparent presentation of the project to the Parliament.

“If the government wishes to engage with us as a state, we have always been its protectors; however, if they choose to treat us
as gangs, we are prepared for that,’ he emphasized.

Justice Ministry Undersecretary participates in GCC meeting

Doha, Isa Sami Al Mannai, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, participated in the Ninth Meeting of Assistant Ministers of Islamic Affairs and Endowments of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held in Doha.

The meeting discussed key topics including the exchange of expertise in scientific research and best practices in endowments among member states, the development of papers on the role of ministries in supporting individuals with disabilities, and the preservation of historical mosques.

They also focused on establishing a global day for endowments and the creation of a Gulf scientific observatory to promote moderate thinking and peaceful coexistence.

Participants adopted recommendations to strengthen cooperation among GCC states in the areas of Islamic affairs and endowments, which will be submitted for approval at the tenth ministerial meeting.

Foreign Minister meets EU Representative

Cairo, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met today with Josep Borrell Fontelles, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, on the sidelines of the 162nd session of the Arab League Council of Foreign Ministers.

During the meeting, the two sides highlighted Bahrain-EU relations in various sectors and means to advance them further.

The two sides discussed preparations for the upcoming EU-Gulf Cooperation Council summit in Brussels, alongside regional and international developments.

The meeting also discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip, addressing Arab and international efforts to achieve a ceasefire, protect civilians, ensure the release of hostages and detainees, and expedite the provision of humanitarian and relief aid.

Mikdad meets Tunisia, Jordan and Lebanon’s counterparts on the sidelines of Arab League Council session

Cairo, SANA- Caretaker Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, met on Tuesday with a number of Arab foreign ministers on the sidelines of his participation in the works of the 162nd session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level.

Mikdad discussed with the newly-appointed Tunisian Foreign Minister, Mohamed Ali Nafti, bilateral relations between Syria and Tunisia, and the Arab issues discussed in the ministerial meeting.

Mikdad congratulated the Tunisian Minister on assuming his new post.

Mikdad hailed the distinguished historical relations between the two brotherly countries, which were stressed by leaders of the two countries, President Bashar al-Assad and Tunisian President Kais Saied, calling for implementing their directives in activating relations between the two countries and enhancing them at various levels.

In this regard, Mikdad also discussed with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Al-Safadi, a group of bilateral issues, cooperation and coordination regarding the two countries, with the two ministers affirming their keenness to pursue consultation and coordination in a way that reflects positively on the two brotherly countries.

In the same context, Mikdad discussed with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bouhabib aspects of existing cooperation and coordination between the two countries regarding issues of common interest.

The two ministers also tackled the dangerous developments in the region, in light of the attempts of the Israeli occupation entity to expand its attacks on Syrian and Lebanese territories.

The talks also dealt with the necessity of coordinating efforts between both sides to mobilize the necessary support for the two countries at the United Nations and other international platforms with the aim of condemning these attacks and putting an end to them.

Embassy of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Damascus resumes its works

Damascus, SANA- Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Damascus officially announced on Monday evening that it will resume its operations in Syria in order to bolster bilateral relations between the two countries.

During a reception held by the embassy at Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus, ChargĂ© d’Affaires Abdullah al-Harees underlined the embassy keenness to move forward and exert more efforts to boost bilateral relations.

In turn, Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Deputy Minister, Ayman Raad, stressed that through this step, the relations between both countries will be activated in order to enhance joint Arab action in a way that would serve the interests of peoples of the region.

.Director of Arab Affairs Department at the Ministry, Dr. Riad Abbas, said that resuming the embassy its works represents the beginning of a new phase of joint work for the prosperity and stability of Syria and Arab countries.

Egyptian PM receives Kuwaiti FM

Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly received on Tuesday Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya, currently in an official visit to Cairo.

Al-Yahya conveyed greetings of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to Madbouly and the Egyptian people, and in return, Madbouly wished Kuwait’s leadership, government and people further progress and prosperity.

During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral ties, cooperation and latest regional developments, as well as issues of common interest.

Abu Rudeineh: The massacres of the occupation and American support have put the region in the wind


Ramallah – Ma’an – The official spokesman for the Palestinian presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, said that the continuation of the war of genocide against our Palestinian people, the daily massacres committed against them, and the American support have put the region in the wind.

Abu Rudeina added that the bloody massacre committed by the occupation against displaced civilians today, Tuesday, in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis, which led to the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of citizens, in addition to the continued storming of cities, camps and villages in the West Bank and the destruction of infrastructure, is the responsibility of the American administration before the occupation.

He added, if it were not for this unprecedented American support politically, militarily and financially, the occupation leaders would not have dared to commit such crimes, defying all international legitimacy resolutions and international law by killing children, women and the elderly without accountability.

Abu Rudeineh
continued, “It is time for Israel and the American administration to realize that the entire region is on the brink of a comprehensive explosion, as a result of its policies that are contrary to international will and international legitimacy, and that it is inciting the Palestinian people and the Arab nation with the money and weapons it provides to the occupying state, to continue its crimes against our people, our land, and our holy sites, and it must withdraw its blind support before it is too late.”

The official spokesman for the presidency stressed that these bloody crimes will not bring security and stability to anyone, but will increase the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, their adherence to their land and constants, and the realization of their hopes for freedom and independence.

Abu Rudeineh stressed that the international community must not allow these massacres to continue, and this absurdity that has pushed the region to the brink of an endless war, which increases instability, as a res
ult of the explosion and tension caused by the occupation policy in the entire region.
