6th Global Conference for Occupational Safety and Health Starts in Riyadh


Riyadh: Under the patronage of Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Eng. Ahmed Alrajhi, the Sixth Global Conference for Occupational Safety and Health started today in Riyadh under the slogan ‘Scanning the Horizon’.

The conference, which runs until May 7, focuses on five main topics: sustainability, corporate safety, technological transformation, cultural awareness and occupational health.

In his opening speech, Alrajhi said that Saudi Arabia has achieved significant accomplishments over the past years in the occupational safety and health field due to the many programs and initiatives launched under Vision 2030, which aims to create a vibrant society and build a diverse and sustainable economy.

He praised the efforts of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, which resulted in a 30.7% decrease in work injuries in the Kingdom; from 416 injuries per 100,000 workers to 288 injuries per 100,000 workers. These efforts also lead to a 71.27% increase in the establishments complying
with the safety and health standards.

Alrajhi opened the exhibition accompanying the conference and visited several pavilions of the participating entities. He also inaugurated the official website of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health and checked on the platform for reporting and investigating work accidents, injuries, and occupational diseases.
