900 RUSSIAN AIRSTRIKES HIT CENTRAL SYRIA, KILLED OVER 30 ISIS TERRORISTS IN LESS THAN 30 DAYS

Warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) have carried out more than 900 airstrikes on ISIS hideouts in Syria’s central region since the beginning of February, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on the 27th of the month. .

According to the London-based monitoring group, the airstrikes killed at least 38 terrorists of ISIS and wounded 59 others.

The most recent wave of Russian airstrikes, which took place on February 27 morning, hit hideouts of the terrorist group near the town of Ithriyah in the eastern countryside of Hama.

ISIS cells are mainly present in the Homs desert, the Hama-Aleppo-Raqqa triangle and the western desert of Deir Ezzor. The VKS’ recent combat operations have very much pinned down terrorists taking shelter in these areas.

For the past month, ISIS cells in central Syria have been mostly inactive. The terrorists didn’t carry out any meaningful attack on government forces.

While ISIS insurgency in central Syria will not likely end soon, there is no denying that the situation in the region has been slowly improving. All key urban centers and strategic roads in the region remain out of the terrorist group’s reach. Intense Russian and Syrian operations were behind this improvement.
