Abdollahian calls for considering displaced Syrians issue, lifting coercive measures

The illegitimate presence of the US forces in Syria and the attacks launched by the Zionist entity on its lands represent an obstacle to any political solution to the crisis there, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stressed.

“The solution to the crisis in Syria could not be directed to the right path without considering the issue of the displaced Syrians and cancelling the unilateral coercive measures imposed on it by the West,” Abdollahian was cited by Iranian News Agency (IRNA) as saying on Sunday during a meeting with UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen in Tehran.

Pedersen, for his part, reaffirmed the necessity of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and its political stability.

Pedersen met yesterday with senior advisor to the Iranian foreign minister on special political affairs, Ali Asghar Khaji, who stressed the need to exert efforts by the United Nations to lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, provide humanitarian aid to the Syrian people, return the displaced, and facilitate the reconstruction process in the country.
