Lebanese Forces MP George Adwan said Saturday night that the Lebanese were before an ultimatum: respect the State or head towards the unknown.

The MP, who represented the head of the LF at the annual dinner of party engineers, criticized granting positions in trade unions to supporters, regardless of merit. This practice, according to Adwan, was leading to the systematic destruction of unions and ultimately the state.

He went on to say that the State was no longer able to bear parties, confessionalism and whims.

The MP then spoke of Hezbollah’s involvement in the war in Syria and its repercussions on Lebanon’s fate.

“No party should consider itself the State, or consider itself above the Constitution and have its leader decide on plunging into wars. You are a citizen of the Lebanese State and you are under the ceiling of the Constitution and law…Only the State has the right to make war and peace decisions.”

“If Hezbollah doesn’t come back to its Lebanese belonging, then the entire country is heading towards the unknown.”
