Amman: Minister of Agriculture Fayez al-Mikdad discussed Thursday with Bahraini counterpart, Wael Al-Mubarak, means of developing cooperation among the Arab countries and benefit from the available investment opportunities. The meeting comes within the sidelines of the regional forum on accelerating the transformation of food systems in the Arab region, which begun Wednesday in the Jordanian capital of Amman.
According to Syrian Arab News Agency, during the meeting, al-Mikdad stressed the need for concerted efforts to confront crises that storm the region by exploiting the local resources available in each country. He invited the Bahraini minister to visit Syria and learn about opportunities investments in the agricultural sector as a result of diversification in plant production.
Later, al-Mikdad held a meeting with the regional director of World Food Program, Corinne Fleischer, appreciating the role of the Program and the assistance it provided over the previous years in terms of relief to ease the effect
s of the war on the affected families in Syria. He called for increasing support directed to Syria, whether through urgent relief for the Lebanese brothers who took refuge in Syria or for the Syrians returning to their villages inside the country.
