AKAR CONDEMNS ISRAELI BREACH, INFORMS LEBANON’S DELEGATE AT THE UNITED NATIONS

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants in the caretaker government, Zeina Akar, denounced in a statement today, “the attacks and violations committed by the Israeli enemy, as Syrian military sites were targeted from the Lebanese territories and airspace, affecting Lebanese areas in Lehfed and Majdal as well, and almost led to fallen causalities.”

Akar considered that said attacks “constitute a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and international resolutions and threaten security, stability and peace in Lebanon.”

She added that they also constitute a deviation from the rules in force in accordance with international resolution # 1701, which prompts the Lebanese state to act immediately and Israel to bear the consequences of its overboard actions.

In this context and upon the request of the President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, Lebanon’s delegate at the United Nations was advised of the necessity of informing the UN General Secretariat of “Israel’s continued violation of Lebanese sovereignty, especially in light of the use of Lebanese airspace to target Syrian territory.”
