Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi affirmed that the expansion in the GCC region has become a focal point for countries around the world and represents a qualitative leap due to the promising future economic and trade opportunities that the GCC countries offer. He highlighted the region’s accelerated economic growth, supportive business climate, and government initiatives that encourage entrepreneurs and investors.
This statement was made during the sixth meeting of the Permanent Preparatory Committee at the ministerial level for the Economic and Development Affairs Authority of the GCC, held today in Doha. The meeting was chaired by Qatari Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, who also serves as president of the current session, and attended by the ministers of economy from the GCC countries.
Albudaiwi mentioned that the directives of the leaders of the GCC countries always focus on enhancing diligent and continuous work to advance the GCC’s journey. This include
s achieving numerous joint Gulf accomplishments and projects that serve the GCC countries and their peoples.
He further stated that the challenges resulting from global economic trends amidst current political crises, which affect the economies of the GCC countries due to their openness to the world, necessitate responding to these challenges and taking all necessary measures to confront and mitigate their impacts.
“The GCC states have proven their ability to overcome various challenges, even in the most difficult circumstances, thanks to Allah and the wise policies adopted to navigate hardships and dangers. Despite these challenges, the World Bank has projected that the Gulf region’s economy will grow by more than 4% in 2025, outperforming major global economies. This confirms that the non-oil sectors will lead this growth, all amid the economic challenges facing many countries worldwide,” Albudaiwi said.
