Ambassador Ahmad: Western blockade is economic terrorism against the targeted peoples

Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the UN Office in Geneva, Ambassador, Haydar Ali Ahmad, affirmed that full commitment to respecting Syria’s independence and sovereignty, lifting unilateral coercive measures, sincere cooperation with the Syrian government in combating terrorism, and supporting its efforts in the humanitarian and development fields, are essential factors to stop the suffering of the Syrians.

“Ending the suffering of the Syrians requires full commitment to respecting Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and the immediate and complete removal of unilateral coercive measures that have badly affected the lives of Syrians, that impeded their access to their basic daily needs and living, which constitute economic terrorism against the targeted peoples” Ambassador Ahmed said in a statement on Wednesday before the Human Rights Council.

The Ambassador stressed the importance of supporting the Syrian government’s efforts in the humanitarian and development fields and in rebuilding what was destroyed by the earthquake, and by armed terrorist groups, and refraining from any practices that impede these efforts, in addition to cooperation with this government in combating the remnants of terrorism, and ending the US illegal presence on the Syrian territory, which support separatist militias and terrorist groups.

He underlined the necessity to stop the barbaric and inhumane aggression of the Israeli entity, and its practices of the most severe and egregious violations of the international humanitarian law, the latest of which was the attack on Aleppo Airport.

The Ambassador Ahmad reaffirmed Syria’s stance in support of the One-China principle, pointing out that issues related to Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Tibet are issues related to China’s internal affairs, and any external interference attempts at are rejected.
