UN Special Envoy, American actress Angelina Jolie, currently in Lebanon, visited on Tuesday Interior and Municipalities Minister Nuhad Mashnouq, at his ministerial office, where they held a meeting that lasted for one hour.

Jolie stressed during the meeting that “Lebanon should be strong” commending the country for all what it has provided to the Syrian refugees. She promised that she shall relay to the world how Lebanon is a country full of nobility in this regard.

Minister Mashnouq, for his part, lauded her statements in the Beqa during her visits to the Syrian refugee camps, seeing eye to eye with her over “the need to resolve the causes of the Syrian refugee crisis rather than its repercussions” through finding a political solution that guarantees Syrian refugees’ return to their homeland.

Jolie told Mashnouq that Lebanon and the Lebanese people embody the humanitarian values in dealing with the Syrian refugees.

The UN envoy highly commended the Lebanese hospitality, government and people, in hosting the displaced Syrians, saying “it is important to support the Lebanese government through development projects, infrastructure and attract investments, in recognition of its efforts in this area.”
