Animal Wealth Undersecretary affirms using modern technology to boost agricultural production

Dr. Khalid Ahmed Hassan, Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources, received US delegation headed by Michael Hogan, Head of Mission in New York, and Steven Valencin.

Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) Secretary General, attended the meeting.

Dr. Khalid affirmed Bahrain’s interest in food security, guided by the royal visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the follow-up of the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The undersecretary said that the Kingdom seeks to be in an advanced position in accordance with international standards in achieving food security.

He added that Bahrain adopts a national strategy for sustainable agricultural development aimed at strengthening the role of agriculture, animal and fish production to achieve comprehensive development.

During the meeting, Dr. Khalid reviewed the modern technologies used in agriculture and marketing the products of Bahraini farmers.

He stressed Bahrain’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with the US considering the trade facilities and mutual agreements between the two countries, in a way that supports economic growth in both countries.

He noted that the ministry is keen to benefit from modern technology in agricultural production, according to the available resources that require the expansion of the use of agricultural technology and the adoption of sustainable farming systems.
