AOUN HOPES POLITICAL SOLUTION WILL BE REACHED IN SYRIA

President Michel Aoun on Wednesday held out hope for an agreement on a political solution to the Syrian crisis, maintaining that a political settlement will allow the displaced to return to their homeland.

Aoun also hailed the role assumed by the United Nation’s World Food Programme in terms of helping the displaced Syrians in Lebanon.

His remarks came during his meeting with WFP Executive Director, David Beasley.

The President later met with Lebanese Banks Association head, Joseph Torbey, with whom he discussed the current monetary situation, in addition to Torbey’s U.S.A. visit tomorrow.

Torbey and the accompanying delegation are heading to Washington to dwell on new U.S. sanctions against Lebanese parties and individuals.

Aoun also welcomed a delegation of the Lebanese-Australian Commerce Chamber in Sydney, in presence of Australian Ambassador to Lebanon, Glenn Miles.
