AOUN RECEIVES FRENCH AMBASSADOR, COURT OF AUDITORS’ DELEGATION, ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL HEAD
The President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, met the French ambassador, Bruno Foucher, and discussed with him the current situation in Lebanon and the ongoing contacts to form a new Government.
The meeting was attended by the Lebanese Minister of State for Presidential Affairs,Salim Jreissati, and first secretary at the French embassy in Beirut, Mrs. Stephanie Salha. Ambassador Foucher conveyed France’s desire to form a new government that would respond to the aspirations of the Lebanese at this stage.
Court of Auditors:
In the presence of Minister Jreissati, President, Aoun discussed the work of the Council of Auditors after the recent appointments, the accomplishments achieved during this period, and the measures adopted to complete the audit of the financial accounts of the Lebanese state from 1992 to 2017, with a delegation from the Court of Auditors, headed by Judge Muhammad Badran.
The research also dealt with the Bureau’s need to increase the number of its monitors and auditors, in order to complete the financial accounts as soon as possible, in addition to other issues within the core of the work of the Council.
The delegation included: Chief Prosecutor of the Court, Judge Fawzi Khamis, and heads of Chambers, Judge Jamal Mahmoud, Judge Abdel Reda Nasser, Judge Inaam Al-Bustaniand Judge Nelly Abi Younis.
Head of Economic & Social Council:
The President also received the head of the Economic and Social Council, Mr. Charles Arbeed, and reviewed with him the work of the Council and the economic situation in the country, in the light of recent developments.
President Aoun received congratulations on Christmas and New Year holidays, most notably from the Syrian President, Dr. Bashar Al-Assad, and the President of Andorra, Gazzavier Zamora.
