Arab education body “platform” for development, chief underlines

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALESCO) serves as a platform for drawing up plans for development in education sector across the region, its chief Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar said on Wednesday.

ALESCO is hard at work with strategies aiming to propel educations sectors in the wider Arab region to greater levels, he told KUNA in an interview, just as Arad education ministers are assembling for talks in the Moroccan capital Rabat.

Though the sector has made “tangible” progress around the region, there still remains some challenges that need to be dealt with, he underlined, saying the use of cutting-edge technology can be instrumental in overcoming these challenges.

Among these strategies are efforts to accelerate a digital drive in the education sector around the region, which will be useful in providing sound and quality education to students, added the ALESCO chief.

Education ministers from some 18 Arab countries, including Kuwait, are coming together for the talks, where they are joined by a slew of educational bodies and organizations from the region.
