Foreign Minister of France, Jean-Marc Ayrault, held a meeting at the Grand Serail on Thursday with PM Saad Hariri and in the presence of Nader Hariri.

Ayrault conveyed to Hariri a congratulatory message from President Francois Hollande on the election of President Michel Aoun, nomination of Prime Minister, Saad Hariri and the formation of a new cabinet.

“France will continue to exert all efforts to aid Lebanon and keep it safe from the Syrian crisis,” the French FM said following his meeting with Hariri.

Ayrault asserted that his administration remained steadfast in its support of Lebanon’s fight against terrorism.

“France will continue working within the UNIFIL…and we hope that Lebanon continues its dialogue with neighboring countries,” he stressed.

Ayrault pushed for the approval of a new electoral law so that the parliamentary polls would be held on time.

Responding to a question regarding the Saudi grant to the army and ISF, he replied, “I knew this morning that President Aoun will soon visit Saudi Arabia, and we welcome this issue. I also will visit the Kingdom in January, where I will address all these issues”.
