Bahrain, China hold first round of political consultations


The Kingdom of Bahrain and the People’s Republic of China today held the first round of their political consultations.

The session was co-chaired by Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Political Affairs Undersecretary at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, and Deng Li, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.

The Political Affairs Undersecretary underlined Bahrain’s keenness to strengthen and broaden its cooperation with China across the political, economic, scientific, cultural and technical fields to serve common interests.

The two delegations discussed the latest regional and global developments, including the ongoing efforts aimed at reaching an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, delivering humanitarian aid to civilians, avoiding military escalation, and reducing tensions, in addition to endeavours to establish just and comprehensive peace regionally and globally, as well as promote peaceful coexistence among cultures and civilisations.

Deng Li affirmed his country’s interest in strengthenin
g political and economic cooperation and coordination with the kingdom, in a way that would serve the interests of the countries and their peoples, as well as contribute to enhancing regional and international security and peace. He wished wishing the Kingdom and its people continued progress and prosperity.
