Bassil meets British counterpart in London over refugee crisis, bilateral ties

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gebran Bassil, met on his second day in London, with British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, with whom he discussed the bilateral relations and the means to bolster them through an economic partnership agreement.

During the meeting, Bassil called upon his counterpart to facilitate procedures allowing the exportation of Lebanese agricultural and industrial products into the UK, and to appoint a special trade envoy.

He also thanked his host for the aids the UK is providing to Lebanon especially to the military and security forces.

Moreover, Bassil asked his host for a briefing on his meeting with Jerad Kushner during President Donald Trump’s London visit.

The pair also discussed the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on Lebanon, in addition to the necessity of refugee repatriation.

Afterwards, Bassil held talks with British Secretary of State for International Trade, Liam Fox, over the means to boost commercial and investment exchange between the two countries.

Later on, Bassil respectively met with State Secretary for Middle East Affairs Andrew Morrison and Secretary of State for International Development Rory Stewart.

Bassil meets British counterpart in London over refugee crisis, bilateral ties

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gebran Bassil, met on his second day in London, with British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, with whom he discussed the bilateral relations and the means to bolster them through an economic partnership agreement.
