BASSIL RECEIVES UN’S WRONECKA, SWEDISH AMBASSADOR

Free Patriotic Movement leader, MP Gebran Bassil, on Tuesday welcomed United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Wronecka.

The meeting reportedly stressed the important of role of UNIFIL in South Lebanon, and the need to renew its mandate.

The pair also broached the unbridled security incidents which have been lately witnessed in Akkar and Khaldeh, as well as the paramount importance of forming a government capable of implementing the required reforms locally and internationally.

Bassil separately met with Sweden’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Ann Dismorr, with whom he discussed the governmental formation issue, as well as refugee related affairs.

Bassil stressed the need to allocate the international support for refugees in Lebanon for their safe return to Syria instead of continuing to finance their stay in Lebanon.

For her part, Ambassador Dismorr explained the nature of the aid provided by Sweden to refugees in Lebanon, noting that “Stockholm is preparing to receive 1,200 Syrian refugees soon.”
