Belgium against deployment of its weapons in Russia

Belgian Prime Ministers Alexander de Croo, Monday, voiced his objection over the deployment of weapons Belgium supplied to Ukraine but were used in Russian territory.

However, it must first be established with certainty that the weapons were passed on to rebels in Russia, he told the local public broadcaster VRT’s Radio.

De Croo said that he would “take it very seriously” if donated weapons were indeed deployed in Russia, noting that would go against the conditions set in the arms deliveries.

Belgium is asking Ukraine for an explanation, he said.

This risk is precisely “one of the reasons why European countries have been cautious about supplying weapons,” De Croo added.
