Caretaker Minister of Social Affairs, Pierre Bou Assi, said via twitter on Monday that he had been surprised by some incoming media reports about a tripartite Lebanese-Jordanian-Iraqi committee to meet in Egypt in an attempt to convince the Arab League to invite Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, to attend the Arab Economic Summit in mid-June.

“Lebanon’s participation in a committee of this kind entails a decision by the government to consult and take an appropriate decision; therefore, in the case of an intention to invite the Syrian President, I call for an extraordinary meeting for by the caretaker government to discuss this matter,” Bou Assi added.
