BOU SAAB: MARITIME DEMARCATION TALKS WITH SYRIA SHOULD BE DONE “DIRECTLY AND PUBLICLY”

Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Elias Bou Saab, on Wednesday called for “direct and open” communications with Damascus over the demarcation of maritime borders between Lebanon and Syria.

In an interview with Agence France-Presse, Bou Saab said, “There must be held direct and public communications by the Lebanese government with Syria, away from regional political disagreements.”

“We have to communicate with the Syrian state openly and publicly to delineate the maritime borders (…); any future Lebanese government should undertake this task,” Bou Saab added.
