This afternoon, the closing ceremony of the project “Children Friendly Spaces” funded by the Italian Cooperation in the framework of the Programme MOSAIC, and implemented in partnership with the Lebanese Ministry of Social Affairs (MOSA) and the Makhzoumi Foundation was held in Beirut. The project aimed at supporting several small-size local NGOs (7 in Beirut, 5 in the Shouf and 7 in Baalbeck), committed in the creation of spaces, the provision of skills and tools for childhood protection in favor of the most vulnerable children among the Syrian refugees community.

The intervention of Italy covered the needs of around 2000 children at risk and supported the approach of the Makhzoumi Foundation, aiming to create a safe context, where to develop recreational and educational activities for the support of the educational path and families.

During the ceremony, the President of the Makhzoumi Foundation Mrs. May Makhzoumi, the Ambassador of Italy in Lebanon Massimo Marotti and the Minister of Social Affairs Rachid Derbas intervened. The children involved within the project presented a show and they offered the Minister and the Ambassador a sign of their gratitude.
