WASHINGTON, U.S.A., The global coalition, fighting the so-called Daesh group, has provided a “small number” of anti-explosive armoured vehicles, to Syrian Arab fighters, it said on Wednesday.

The vehicles, known as Guardian, are armoured Ford trucks, which have “increased survivability” against improvised explosive devices and small arms fire, Coalition spokesman, Air Force Col. John Dorrian told a briefing.

Dorian, however, did not specify the exact number of vehicles provided.

The vehicles, authorised by former U.S. president, Barack Obama, were received solely by the Syrian Arab Coalition, he said, and, “obtaining these vehicles has been in the works for months.”

The coalition intends to continue providing training, weapons and equipment, to local Arab tribes, as more join the fight, he added.
