CST Receives Cloud Computing SEZ License during Saudi Special Economic Zones Investment Forum

The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), whose Governor Dr. Mohammad Altamimi participated in the Saudi Special Economic Zones Investment Forum held in Riyadh, in view of CST’s role as a supervisory entity of the Cloud Computing SEZ, received the SEZ license, which enables investors to join the zone and enjoy its benefits and services.

In the third session of the forum, Altamimi said that the zone will help promote Saudi Arabia’s position in the field of digital economy by attracting pioneering companies in Cloud Computing and positioning the Kingdom as a regional hub in advanced computing technologies and a growth engine for the ICT sector.

Altamimi also said that the zone contains companies providing cloud computing services, guarantees privileges to beneficiaries, attracts investment in cloud computing in SEZ, and is expected to contribute SAR7 billion to the GDP by 2030.

CST Deputy Governor of IT and Emerging Technology Sector Raed Al Fayez received the Cloud Computing SEZ license from ECZA Secretary General Nabil Khojah on behalf of CST.

CST participated in the accompanying exhibition with a pavilion that showcased its vision for the zone and its features and services that encourage local and international investors and entrepreneurs, with the goal of increasing participation, and emphasizing the incentives and regulations that contribute to attracting investors.

The forum follows the announcement of the establishment of four SEZs in the Kingdom by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. CST is the relevant entity of the Cloud Computing SEZ which will support the national economy by providing regulations and specific frameworks for service providers that encourage both the private and the public sectors to adopt Cloud Computing rather than traditional IT solutions through CST integration with the relevant entities, with the intention of supporting the adoption of emerging technologies and contributing to the Saudi Vision 2030 to enhance digitization.
