Daher demolishes Frangieh’s chances of becoming President
MP Khaled Daher told the “Free Lebanon” radio station “there is no way MP Sleiman Frangieh would become President because Saudi Arabia and the Arab countries will never accept turning Lebanon into an Iranian reserve.”
“The Decisive Storm has not been waged for Iran to integrate into the Arab world and Lebanon. The Revolutionary Guard will be expelled from Lebanon in the next period,” he affirmed, noting that Saudi Arabia wants Lebanon to be empowered by its own citizens’ will, through the rejection of the “statelet” concept.
“The March 14, and precisely the Future Movement, are not fighting Hezbollah as they should. Only the Lebanese Forces has a clear-cut policy that refuses to make concessions whatsoever for the sake of Hezbollah,” the MP said.
Daher explained that his support of Geagea’s nomination to MP Michel Aoun for President was, first, a gesture of respect to the Christian opinion and, second, an attempt to calm the Christian public, stressing that his stance was not aimed against Former Premier Saad Hariri, since he was no longer member of the Future bloc.
Tackling the Syrian crisis, Daher said “Bachar Al-Assad has crossed the red lines drawn by Putin. The Russian intervention safeguarded the Syrian coast and supported the regime for a while, but Russia will never become a servant of Al-Assad. It is not willing to risk the Russian economy for Assad to remain in power.”
“Russia and KSA have major economic, trade and oil interests and Russia will certainly not isolate itself from the Islamic countries for the sake of Bachar Al-Assad,” Daher stressed, assuring that the Iranian scheme for the region will never succeed.
“Iran and Hezbollah’s last choice would be to leave Syria and let peace prevail,” he concluded.
