Education Ministry Engages with Global Bodies to Address School Needs


Damascus: Minister of Education Nazir al-Qadri confirmed on Saturday that several meetings were held over the past three months with local and international organizations working in the field of education to determine schools’ needs.



According to Syrian Arab News Agency, al-Qadri articulated that the organizations that were met with included UNESCO, UNICEF, and the International Education Foundation. The aim of these meetings was to identify the needs of schools and students and to develop mechanisms to enhance and develop the educational process in the country.



‘We have been working on census and analysis of data available in the sub-directorates in the provinces, such as the number of students, teachers, and schools, as well as their needs in terms of infrastructure and educational resources,’ Minister al-Qadri said in a statement published on the ministry’s Telegram channel.



Al-Qadri concluded by mentioning that the needs of 797 schools across all provinces were assessed in cooperation with engineering teams and operating organizations. He also noted that 230 schools across several provinces were renovated and rehabilitated.
