Egypt, OECD sign MoU to launch three-year country program

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli signed on Tuesday 26/10/2021 a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Paris with Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Mathias Cormann to launch a three-year country program.

The program would serve as a basic reference to information and a guide to government practices, as well as a source of guidance for planning and implementing structural reforms to face main economic challenges.

Following the signing ceremony, the prime minister said that the program would contribute to increasing the competitiveness of Egypt’s economy and enable the country to complete the second phase of the National Program for Economic and Social Reform.

On his part, the OECD secretary general described Egypt as an important partner to the organization, saying that the country program clearly reflects the Egyptian government’s commitment to moving ahead with structural reforms.

According to this country program, the two sides would cooperate in achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Egypt, promoting innovation and digital transformation, strengthening governance and anti-corruption, as well as implementing the sustainable development strategy.
