Egypt partakes in UN conf. on poverty eradication

Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el Saeed attended Saturday 23/10/2021 via video conference the South-South Cooperation Conference on Leveraging Knowledge and Good Practice Sharing for Poverty Eradication and Sustainable Development.

The conference is organized by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) to mark the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

The coronavirus pandemic’s repercussions and its wide health, economic and social impacts have proven the paramount importance of South-South cooperation, Saeed said.

The challenge of the pandemic has helped enhance cooperation between the southern countries on leveraging knowledge and sharing good practices for poverty eradication and sustainable development to build resilient post-pandemic societies, she added.

The minister affirmed Egypt’s commitment to promoting and sharing its anti-coronavirus success stories.

She added that Egypt’s Vision 2030 has been updated to cope with new challenges, including population growth and water scarcity, in addition to helping the economy absorb the repercussions of the pandemic and cushioning its impact on the sustainable development goals.
