Egypt’s non-petroleum exports to EU hit 4.1 bln euros in 8 months

Minister of Trade and Industry Nivine Gamea said Egypt’s non-petroleum exports to European Union markets hit 4.1 billion euros over the past eight months against 2.9 billion euros in the same period in 2020.

In a statement on Saturday 06/11/2021, she said this marked a 38 percent rise in the exports to 23 EU countries, topped by Italy with 51.6 percent, Spain 77.5 percent, Germany 22 percent and the Netherlands 30.7 percent.

Gamea attributed this rise to the efforts exerted by her ministry, especially the commercial offices in these countries.

She underlined the ministry’s keenness on promoting trade cooperation with the EU which is the number one trade partner to Egypt.

Commercial representation service chief Ahmed Maghawry said Egypt’s exports of plastics stood at 494.7 million euros in this period, marking a 50 percent rise.

Also, exports of fertilizers hit 378 million euros, iron and steel 526.5 million, aluminum 266.7 million euros, and organic chemicals 120.9 million euros.
