Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his US counterpart Donald Trump agreed by phone on more effective coordination between the two countries on Syria, the Turkish leader’s administration said in a statement Friday.

“Erdogan and Trump discussed today by phone bilateral relations, the fight against terrorism, security problems and recent events in Syria. Erdogan conveyed to Trump his concern about the presence of members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in Turkey. The presidents agreed to ensure more effective coordination in Syria,” the statement said.
