In a press release by the European Union in Lebanon, it said: “European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides will be visiting Lebanon on 1st June. The Commissioner will be participating in the Syria Aid Forum for Emergency and Reconstruction (SAFER) that will take place in Beirut.”

Release added: “The Commissioner will also meet with Prime Minister Tammam Salam and Minister of Social Affairs Rashid Derbas. Discussions will mainly focus on the impact of the Syrian crisis on Lebanon, the situation of Syrian refugees in the country as well as the comprehensive EU support to assist Lebanon in alleviating the impact of the Syrian crisis. He will also meet with EU partners and beneficiaries, and will visit an informal refugee settlement.”

Release concluded: “This third visit of Commissioner Stylianides to Lebanon highlights the continuing and tangible support that the European Union provides to Syrian refugees and to Lebanese vulnerable communities.”
