Foreign Ministers at Syria’s Neighboring Countries Meeting Advocate Lifting Sanctions for Regional Stability


Amman: The foreign ministers of countries participating in the Syria’s Neighboring Countries meeting held in Amman affirmed their support for Syria’s security and stability, urging the lifting of sanctions on the country. Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi emphasized during a joint press conference that the security and stability of Syria are integral to the entire region, stating, “Strikes on the stability of one of our countries are strikes on the stability of all countries in the region.”

According to Syrian Arab News Agency, Safadi highlighted the meeting’s objective to support Syria in achieving stability, reconstruction, and combating terrorism. He called for the removal of sanctions and encouraged economic cooperation and investment with Syria to aid in its reconstruction efforts.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed his country’s commitment to assisting Syria’s new government in its quest for stability. Fidan conveyed Turkey’s determination to support all activities aimed at stabilizi
ng Syria and condemned Israeli expansionist measures in the region.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein underlined the significance of Syria’s stability for the region, noting that Iraq’s stability is closely linked to that of Syria. Meanwhile, Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji highlighted the importance of Syria’s stability for Lebanon, mentioning discussions on border delineation, preventing smuggling, and combating terrorism during the meeting.
