Foreign Ministers of Astana talks guarantor states could convene next month, Kazakh FM says

A meeting of the foreign ministers of the guarantor states of the Astana talks on Syria, namely Russia, Turkey and Iran, could be held next month, Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi announced on Wednesday.

“We are waiting for all participants to confirm their readiness to attend in mid-December. We sent an invitation and we agreed on the format, but the issues on the agenda were not approved,” the Kazakh minister said.

The Astana meetings began in the Kazakh capital at the beginning of 2017, and 16 meetings have been held, one of them in the Russian city of Sochi, and all of the meetings affirmed the firm commitment to preserving Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and continuing the war on terrorist organizations in it till eradicating them, in addition to rejecting all separatist agendas.
