French defense minister Florence Parly on Friday called on opening humanitarian corridors in Syria as soon as possible.

“We are very preoccupied and are monitoring the situation on the ground very carefully. The air strikes need to end,” she said on France Inter radio.

“Civilians are the targets, in Idlib and in the east of Damascus. This fighting is absolutely unacceptable,” she added.

The Syrian civil war has entered its eighth year and has killed hundreds of thousands of people, as well as driving millions from their home.
