Lebanese Forces’ leader, Samir Geagea, lamented Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil’s call to end the suspension of Syria’s membership of the Arab League, stressing that such stance is personal and not reflecting the Lebanese government’s position.

“It seems that some are seeking to implicate us in foreign policy problems,” Geagea said during a dinner banquet hosted by the Lebanese Forces in Leamington, Canada.

At an emergency meeting for Arab ministers in Cairo Saturday, Bassil maintained that it was time for Syria to return to the Arab League.

“The foreign minister has no right to make a similar stance without referring to the Council of Ministers,” Geagea considered.

“I hope that the Cabinet will issue a statement to confirm that Bassil’s position is personal and not reflecting the stance of Lebanon’s government,” he said.
