Lebanese Forces (LF) leader Samir Geagea on Thursday underlined that Syria is the bleeding wound in the Middle East, indicating that the only solution lies in the appointment of a transitional authority from outside the belligerent forces, under international auspices.

“Such a solution paves the way for the displaced Syrians to return to their homeland,” Geagea said during his patronage of a conference entitled: “The future of the Middle East and its implication on foreign policy and security in Europe”.

The Conference is organized by the “Middle East Institute for Research and Strategic Studies”, in cooperation with the “Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies” in Meerab.

Scores of political, diplomatic, media and civil society dignitaries were present.

Geagea stressed that the Middle East needs a deeply anchored stability which can be solely attained through profound solutions to questions at hand.
