General Abbas, Bagheri stress importance of boosting joint cooperation between Syria and Iran

Tehran, SANA-Minister of Defense, General Ali Mahmoud Abbas, held talks in Tehran on Monday with chief of staff of Iran’s Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, , on bilateral relations and means of boosting joint cooperation to serve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

General Abbas said that the close cooperation between the two countries had fruitful results in defeating terrorism and aggressive plots, adding that the victory achieved over terrorism is a joint victory.

He also thanked Iran for its support to Syria in the war against terrorism, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation, consultation and joint coordination.

Bagheri, for his part, appreciated the resilience of Syria’s leadership, people and army against the conspiracies.

He pointed to the importance of the visit paid by General Abbas to Tehran in strengthening coordination and consultation between the two countries, stressing Iran’s continued support for Syria in various fields.

Later, General Abbas discussed with Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, Major General Hussein Salami, means of enhancing bilateral relations in the military field, with the two sides stressing the importance of going ahead in coordination and pushing the level of bilateral cooperation forwards through exchanging scientific experiences.

Abbas affirmed that the Syrian Government is determined to combat terrorism and to liberate all Syrian territories from terrorists and occupiers.

Salami, for his part, said that the victory of Syria over terrorism is a victory for the resistance axis.

He reiterated Iran’s continuous support for Syria.

The two sides also condemned the Zionist continued aggression on the Syrian sovereignty under illusive pretexts.

General Abbas arrived in the Iranian capital of Tehran Monday morning.
