The government is planning to significantly decrease allocations for flour and wheat subsidies next year, according to Syria’s 2023 draft budget. Though state spending on social support is forecast to decline, the budget is set to increase by 24 percent in nominal terms and by four percent in dollar terms compared with this year’s budget.
