Hamieh deplores Israeli attack on humanitarian aid route for displaced persons in Baalbek

Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Dr. Ali Hamieh, on Monday confirmed that “the Israeli enemy targeted one of the aid routes for the displaced in Baalbek area.’

In an interview with Al Jazeera, he stated that “the enemy bombed near a Lebanese government aid bus in the Baalbek area.”

Hamieh emphasized the “necessity of ensuring that aid convoys reach their intended recipients,” noting that “the aid convoy to Baalbek was escorted by the United Nations and the Red Cross.”

Hamieh further indicated that some aid routes are unsafe and that “we need the United Nations’ assistance to designate them as safe paths.”

The Public Works Minister further warned that “the Israeli aggression, which violates international norms and laws, has rendered certain aid routes unsafe.” Hamieh finally called for “United Nations support in declaring these routes as secure corridors.”
