Hariri: We want a government that achieves administrative reforms, fights corruption and shows that Lebanon deserves to be supported
Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri sponsored today the Iftar held by the Future movement in honor of its Liberal professions sector at the Seaside Arena.
He delivered the following speech: Before having a party, the Future movement already had liberal professions, just as it had the Beirut Association for Development, the Hariri Foundation, the Alumni Association, the Future Scouts, the social services offices, and university, youth and women work groups all over Lebanon.
Before the establishment of the Future movement party, there were young men and women from all sects and reagions who loved Rafic Hariri, believed in his project and worked with him in the reconstruction workshop that moved Lebanon from destruction to construction, from chaos to order and from war to dialogue.
The liberal professions are the elite of Future movement young men and women. The elite of Rafic Hariri graduates in all unions and fields of work.
The liberal professions are the strength that allows the Future movement to be, in words and deeds, the most important cross-sectarian political movement at a time where sects invaded all parties and movements, and when sectarian practice became a symbol of political life in Lebanon.
Rafic Hariri worked to end the civil war in Lebanon and launched the biggest reconstruction project in the Arab region.
The message of the Future movement today is how to protect Lebanon from the region’s wars. We are working on the most important project in the last twenty years for the economic and social advancement in the country.
In order to protect the country we have to protect the Future movement and you have to be in the front lines, just as the movement has a responsibility to be the in the first lines to protect Lebanon from falling in the region’s fires.
The elections revealed to everyone the shortcomings and weaknesses and drove us to review the past period.
The problem was not in the results of the elections. The problem was in the management of the elections and the absence of essential groups from this management.
In this regard, I have to tell you that I take the first responsibility, because what I did during the month that preceded the elections, I should have done a year or two years ago. Also, the electoral machine should have started working six months ago and not three months ago, and the accountability that we did two weeks ago should have been done two months before the elections.
The important thing today is that the movement is still in the safety zone and its supporters all over Lebanon showed a loyalty that makes me say that the results of popular support for the Future movement were better than the results of the elections.
And this is important for the movement, despite all the difficulties and problems it faced.
I rely on you and on all the Future movement elite. I also bet on a new start and a new organizational work. This gives me strength and confidence to complete the formation of the government and to surpass any difficulties in the process of the formation.
On this issue, I am optimistic to form a governmental work team that puts the interests of the country before the personal and partisan interests.
The economic challenges, the risks of regional engagement and the burdens of the Syrian displacement do not give any of us the right to waste time, exercise political luxury or display force.
The formation of the government is a direct responsibility for President Michel Aoun and me. The political forces should submit their proposals and facilitate the formation and a national consensus formula able to achieve administrative reforms, fight all kinds of squandering and corruption and send a message to all brothers and friends around the world, that Lebanon deserves to be supported.
The Lebanese does not want words and slogans. The Lebanese wants work and wants to see that the state is responsible of his security, dignity and services. The work that we used to do in two or three months, we can do it in one or two weeks.
The talk about shares is the last concern of the people because in the end, all parties, leaders and sects, are all part of the share of the country and our work is to serve the citizen and the state and not be a burden on the citizen and the state.
