IED blast in a school in al-Qameshli city, northwestern Hasaka causes damages, December 5, 2022

On December 5, 2022, an IED planted in a car parked in al-Urouba School, which is located in al-Quwatli Street in al-Qameshli city in the northeastern suburbs of Hasaka governorate, exploded, causing damage to the building’s yard and shattering some of the school’s glass windows. We have not yet been able to identify thesource of the IED. It should be noted that the school serves as the headquarters for the Syrian Democratic Forces’ Ministry of Education.

Al-Qameshli city is under the control of theSyrian National Army (SNA)

The Syrian Network for Human Rights condemns all bombings targeting civilians and vital facilities. We call on the controlling party to uphold their responsibilities for protecting civilians in areas under their control, investigatethe incident, and make the investigation’s findings known to the public.

Syria will never have true stability without atrue political transition process to implement democracy enacted within a fixed timeframe.
