Iftar brings together officials, diplomats, business community

Türkiye’s embassy in Bahrain has hosted a traditional Turkish iftar attended by officials, diplomats and members of the business community.

Turkish Ambassador Esin Çakil said in her remarks that the shared iftar during the auspicious month of Ramadan reflected a unique facet of the strong and deep Bahraini-Turkish relationship.

“We welcome the blessed Lailat Al Qadr (Night of Destiny), which is more auspicious than a thousand months, with hope and peace. May Lailat Al Qadr be a blessing for our citizens living in Bahrain, the people of Bahrain, the Turkish nation and the entire Islamic world.”

The iftar had also a touching significance after a hiatus of two years due to the COVID pandemic.

Three Turkish chefs partnered to make the traditional iftar a highly memorable event, driven by shared values and love for palatable food.

Three musicians added flavor to the event with performances of traditional Turkish music.

Bahrain and Türkiye are marking 50 years of diplomatic relations.

Members of the Turkish-Bahrain Interparliamentary Friendship Group last week met with Ambassador Çakil and discussed concrete steps to deepen inter-parliamentary cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations, mainly in trade and tourism.

Çakil, who was appointed to Bahrain in 2021, is the third Turkish woman ambassador to the Kingdom following Hilal Baskal (2001-2005) and Hatun Demirer (2013-2018).
