IN VIDEO: FIGHTING IN SYRIA’S AL-HASAKAH. ISIS WENT FOR BREAKTHROUGH

On January 25th, SDF forces failed to neutralize the militants, following several assault attempts. ISIS fighters still control several prison facilities and residential quarters in the area.

Forces of the U.S.-led coalition, including the US Air Force and the British Air Force, with heavy weapons and aircraft are also deployed to support the SDF. However, this is still not enough to suppress the militants.

Late on January 25th, ISIS fighters reportedly went for the breakthrough.Fierce clashes were reported.

The clashes are covered by the local media. ISIS is also sharing the footage from the area within its propaganda campaign.

According to local reports, the SDF made a deal with the jihadists and exchanged several hostages for food. However, the fate of the prisoners is still unknown.

ISIS cells attacked the prison, which is run by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, late on January 20 to free hundreds of their comrades. However, they ended up capturing the prison and several nearby areas in the southern part of al-Hasakah city.
