Indonesian University celebrates World Arabic Language Day with participation of Syria

The Indonesian Governmental University, Syarif Hidayatullah, celebrated the world Arabic Language Day on Thursday under the title “The Arabic Language is Civilization” with the participation of Syria.

In a speech during the ceremony, the Chargé d’Affairs of the Syrian Embassy in Jakarta, Minister Plenipotentiary Abdel Moneim Annan, stressed that the Arabic language is the main subject of national identity, pointing to the great interest this language has received in Syria and its Arabization of the curriculum of higher education, even in the natural and applied sciences.

The ceremony included a show of a short documentary film on the Israeli aggression on Gaza, and the university students presented a short play about the suffering of Palestinian women because of the Zionist occupation.

At the end of the ceremony, the university honored Annan by gifting him its shield, in appreciation of his interaction with it despite the Corona pandemic.
