Iran condemns Israeli aggression on Lattakia commercial port

Iran has condemned the Israeli aggression that targeted the container yard in the commercial port in Lattakia yesterday, stressing that it is a violation of international laws and regulations.

“Such attack by the Zionist entity amounts to aggression against a UN member state, brazen violation of Syria’s sovereignty, an act of aggression, a clear example of the Zionist entity’s objectives in creating crisis and chaos in the region, and also an inhumane and immoral action,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said in a statement Wednesday.

Khatibzadeh added that the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory are a violation of international laws, regulations and standards, considering that defending against the actions of the aggressors is a legitimate right for the Syrian government and people.

The Iranian spokesman also called on other countries and the international community to take the necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such Israeli attacks which threaten regional peace and security, “because silence on such aggressive actions by the Zionist entity will encourage and give the green light to it to continue acts of aggression.”
