Damascus: Six people, including two military personnel and a volunteer from the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), lost their lives in an Israeli aerial attack that occurred shortly after midnight. The aggression targeted the border crossings between Syria and Lebanon in the western countryside of Homs, resulting in multiple casualties and substantial material damage.
According to Syrian Arab News Agency, a military source reported that the attack was launched at 00:05 a.m. from the direction of Lebanese territory. The assault led to the martyrdom of six individuals, comprising two military personnel and several civilians. Additionally, twelve others sustained injuries, among them children, women, and SARC workers, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the attack.
SANA’s reporter earlier indicated that the Israeli aggression focused on the Arida and Dabousiya border crossings with Lebanon. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent Organization confirmed the loss of one of its volunteers and injuries to several others
during their humanitarian mission to aid the wounded at the targeted crossings in Homs and Tartous countryside.
The organization strongly condemned the attack, which also damaged ambulances and operational points, reiterating the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law. It emphasized the need to protect humanitarian workers to maintain essential life-saving services. Consequently, SARC has withdrawn its crews from the border crossings to safeguard their well-being.
