Joint efforts between the Department of Refugee Affairs and the Ministry of Social Development to provide support to the residents of the Gaza Strip

Ramallah – Together – As part of the ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people of the camps and refugees in the Gaza Strip, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Head of the Refugee Affairs Department, Dr. Ahmed Abu Holi, held an important meeting with the Minister of Social Development, Dr. Samah Abu Aoun Hamad, and in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Department of Refugee Affairs, Mr. Anwar Hamam, and the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Development, Mr. Akram Al-Hafi, the meeting came to discuss a joint strategy to provide comprehensive support to the residents of the Gaza Strip, especially the displaced, and to alleviate their suffering in light of the difficult humanitarian conditions they face.

During the meeting, the importance of developing an urgent and joint action plan for rapid intervention and employing all available resources to implement emergency relief interventions was emphasized.

Dr. confirmed. Abu Holi: The Department of Refugee Affairs is prepared and provides all the necessary capabilities to implement these interventions in full coordination with the popular committees in the camps spread in the Gaza Strip and their volunteer teams.

Dr. noted. Abu Holi said that the war waged by the Israeli war government against our people, besieging the work of UNRWA and trying to undermine its work with the aim of creating a state of chaos in relief operations, comes as part of the war of starvation against our people in the Gaza Strip, and therefore the Department of Refugee Affairs and all partners have a national and moral responsibility. Humanitarian and legal, in order to support our people and support the work of UNRWA in these difficult circumstances, and to harness all the capabilities and logistics that the department has to implement relief and development projects through full coordination with the popular committees affiliated with the department, which are distributed among eight camps throughout the Gaza Strip.

Joint cooperation represents a professional and effective approach in these difficult circumstances, as the Ministry of Development is the leader of the development and social sector in Palestine.

For her part, Dr. Samah Abu Aoun Hamad praised the great efforts made by the Department of Refugee Affairs in facing the difficult challenges in light of the harsh conditions experienced by the population in Gaza. She stressed the importance of clarifying roles and responsibilities in future plans to ensure the success of implementing urgent relief interventions, and added that the Ministry has taken a series of measures and steps to enhance transparency and integrity in the implementation of relief projects, including signing agreements with partners to achieve these goals.

This meeting comes within the framework of ongoing joint efforts to achieve development and provide effective support to the residents of the Gaza Strip in light of the difficult circumstances they face.
