Kabilari visits Khodr on head of a UNICEF delegation, agrees to finance tourism promotion office in Baalbek

Baalbek-Hermel Governor Bashir Khodr met Sunday with UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Gert Kabilari, accompanied by a delegation representing the Organization.

Khodr explained to the delegation the repercussions of the Syrian displacement on the local community, and the need for UNICEF’s continued support to the Baalbek-Hermel region’s developmental projects.

He also called for “the establishment of a new office in the province funded by UNICEF, whose mission would be to promote tourism in Baalbek-Hermel that will have a positive impact on the local economy.”

Kabilari, in turn, stressed UNICEF’s commitment to pursuing all development projects in the Baalbek-Hermel region. In this connection, he approved Governor Khodr’s request to fund a tourism promotion office within the province.
