Trade and Economy Minister, Raed Khoury, welcomed on Friday UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Sigrid Kaag. Bilateral talks featured high during the UN diplomat’s protocol visit to Khoury.

The Minister briefed Kaag on the Lebanese government’s plan to draft a five-year economic plan that increases growth by 7% to 8% per year. This plan mainly focuses on the activation of the private sector within the field of economic development.

The pair also discussed the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on the Lebanese economy.

In turn, Kaag lauded the positive push that the election of a president and the formation of a cabinet have given for Lebanon.

“More positive steps should be built on Lebanon’s new developments, in what benefits the nation best,” Kaag added.
